The Drawing Room SF

In 2025–26, I showed nine pieces in The Monster Art Show at The Drawing Room in San Francisco, alongside a wonderful group of fellow artists.

My work is built in layers—marks, scratches, and drips of paint—echoing walls and surfaces that have weathered time and held stories. On these surfaces, I weave together memory, food, folklore, ritual, and writing to preserve what might otherwise be lost. Each piece is both personal and ancestral, a fragment carried forward through image and story.

For this series, textured, gestural canvases intersect with found figural images clipped from magazines—a pairing that lent itself naturally to the show's theme of monsters. Eight of the nine works are mixed media on canvas, growing from play and intuition: abstract marks, scratches, drips of paint, and fragments of collected imagery. From these spontaneous splatters and clippings, new forms begin to emerge, hinting at stories only the subconscious can dream. Each piece invites viewers into a world where accident becomes intention, and monsters reveal themselves through the quiet logic of imagination.
